The Stray Dog Project

When we first started visiting Maya Jade, there were many sad looking stray dogs around. Their ribs were showing, they were dirty and they were always begging for food. It was heart wrenching and honestly uncomfortable to be around.

Since then, the Maya Jade has hired a married couple named Mauricio and Yoselin. Yoselin is the hotel owners daughter. They have been HUGE in the amount of progress the hotel and community have seen, and one of the big ways they have made a difference is with the stray dogs. Mauricio wanted to help them, so he captured them and took them to a local vet who neutered them and gave them shots to keep them healthier and protected from vicious diseases. They now give them regular vitamins of the necessary nutrients they need, and provide healthy dog food for them. This last trip, the dogs were looking so much happier and healthier! The problem isn’t totally resolved but it is well on its way! Thanks so much Mauricio and Yoselin!
