Guatemala Trip June 2024

Here’s a bit of a trip recap from earlier this summer! This time around, we went with just the 4 of us AWB directors (Sharla & Josiah and Chelsie & Kyler) and a few of our kids each so that we could scout some new projects and locations for the future.

This also gave us a bit more time to connect more with our friends there since our attention wasn’t divided by leading a trip group at the same time, although we love doing that part too!

Our main project for this trip was delivering water filters and bucket kits to a little town out in the country of Guatemala called San Antonito. Sharla and Josiah had visited this village back in February when they went to Guatemala with just their family. While there, Sharla felt strongly promoted that AWB needed to do something to help these sweet humans get easier access to clean water. She searched online and found the Sawyer Water Filters that her family had used for some camping trips and she found that the Sawyer company also sold filtering kits specifically for countries that don’t have access to clean water.

Because of Sharla’s strong desire to help our new friends, Abundance Without Borders was able to provide Sawyer water filters and buckets for 100 families in San Antonito.

What was crazy is that they had a deep well that gave them clean water, but it had stopped working 8 days before we got there. We've had this plan to do water filters since Sharla was prompted to do them back in February, without any knowledge of their well. We didn't realize the timing of everything, but God sure did. It was no coincidence that their well went out just before we came with a way for them to still access clean water. It was so beautiful and humbling and exciting to meet these wonderful new friends and to feel of their love and friendship. Everyone deserves clean water! We are so blessed in the States. And as members of AWB, we were so blessed to get to witness Gods awareness of all of His children. ❤️
