Maya Jade and Zel

When we come to Guatemala for our nonprofit trips, we stay at the beautiful hotel Maya Jade!

Maya Jade was started by Ryan Williams and Zel Giron! Since Ryan’s passing, Zel has continued to use Maya Jade to uplift and bless the community. Not only do they provide so many jobs for the community, but they also rescue baby sea turtles, offer english classes to the employees and promote and support education for the children in the neighboring villages. A major way they have done this is with a darling library they put on the hotel grounds for the local children. It is created out of an old chicken bus! It is so fun and colorful and is a wonderful place for the children to come and read when they are not in school. Ryan’s wife Marci was also a huge driving force in the chicken bus library as well. So many amazing people have put so much time and effort into this community and it’s so beautiful to see how it’s positively affecting the people.

To this day, Zel is so willing to help our organization with anything we may need. He is a HUGE reason as to why AWB is able to be successful on our trips and we frankly couldn’t even accomplish half of what we have without his constant support and help. We are so grateful to you Zel! Thanks so much for all of the good that you do and all of the good you help us do!
